Meet HG CPAs

Dave has over 40 years of experience working in public accounting. Dave has extensive experience working with individuals in tax compliance and planning. He also assists with preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for various business entities.  Dave holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and an Associate in Arts Degree in Business Administration from Thomas More College. Dave is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. 

Outside of the office, Dave enjoys playing softball and golf, as well as attending various sporting events. He also spends time with his three grandsons. 

Ryan is a Cincinnati native who graduated from Xavier University with a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting. Shortly after graduation he earned his CPA designation. He has over 6 years of accounting experience, including 5 years at a mid-size local accounting firm where he worked on closely held businesses and individual tax returns.

In his free time he enjoys cooking, attending concerts, watching sporting events, traveling, and spending time with his wife, family, friends, and dog.

 Joel has been with our HG Team since 2007 and has over 18 years of  accounting and tax experience.  Joel holds an Associates Degree in Accounting from Cincinnati State. Joel is responsible for accounting, business tax returns, and individual tax returns.

When not in the office, Joel enjoys collecting horror movie memorabilia, attending concerts, and fantasy football.  He is a big fan of the Bengals, Reds, Bearcats, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. 

Mark started at HG in October of 1999, managing billing & due date software while he continued working as an itinerant music teacher/performer. In July of  2007, Mark began full-time at HG as Administrative Assistant. Mark holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at University of Cincinnati, 1978.

Away from the office, Mark performs regularly (when there’s no quarantine) around Cincinnati on saxophone, clarinet, and flute. 

Amy joined our team in 2022 as a Client Services Representative for our Tax Department. She graduated from NKU in December 2012 with her bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a focus on Accounting.

When not at the office, Amy enjoys attending FC Cincinnati matches, watching college football on Saturdays in the fall, running, reading, and spending time with her girls, Peyton (7), Clara (5), and Lucy (3). 

Jan has been part of the HG team for over 10 years, and she brings to the team nearly 20 years experience in accounting. Prior to working at HG, Jan  managed reinstatement and payoffs of mortgage loans in foreclosure.  She holds her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Cincinnati.

Outside of work, Jan currently owns and operates a real estate property business with her husband. She loves spending time with her three sons and husband, who like to ski, play sports, and travel.  

Pat Durstock retired from HG/HCM in April of 2023. She spent her career in small public accounting firms, joining HG CPAs to work with Don Hengehold 25 years ago. Pat has been an invaluable asset to our clients, helping them with tax, business, and accounting matters.

We wish Pat all the best as she transitions to retirement with her husband Jim. Her next chapter includes: watching their grandson’s baseball games, catching up on a treasure trove of old movies, and having the largest daffodil flower bed on her street.

 Our founder, Don Hengehold, passed away in February of 2021. He founded the Hengehold Group in 1965 and studied all areas of the financial profession. He was skilled in mergers & acquisitions, transition, and estate planning, to name a few. He was a licensed CPA and had graduated from Xavier University in 1955. He also had a wicked sense of humor. He is missed dearly by his friends, family, colleagues, and clients. We are forever grateful to him for his knowledge and boldness in founding what became HG CPAs LLC.
